ePress chosen as the digital magazine provider for Finland’s national e-library

Finnish pioneer in digital magazine services, ePress, has been selected as the digital magazine provider for Finland’s significant National E-Library project. This collaboration reflects ePress’s long-term commitment to developing high-quality and innovative digital magazine services for all Finnish readers.

The National E-Library, a service produced in collaboration between the National Library of Finland and public libraries, offers customers easy access to borrow e-books and audiobooks and read digital replicas of magazines through a mobile app and a forthcoming website.

The E-Library will be launched on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, coinciding with UNESCO’s International Day of the Book and Copyright and the Day of the Book and the Rose. All residents of municipalities participating in the E-Library will have access to the service. At launch, over 200 municipalities and 85% of Finland’s population will be included.

By integrating ePress, the E-Library project gains access to a wide range of digital magazines now available as part of the e-library service. The collaboration expands the availability of ePress’s services and supports Finland’s library system’s goal of promoting reading and accessibility to information in digital formats.

“We feel immense pride in being selected as a partner for this historic project. This strengthens ePress’s position as a market leader in digital content distribution in Finland and makes our digital magazines available to an even broader readership,” says ePress’s Sales Director, Kimmo Laine.

Annastiina Louhisalmi, E-Library Service Manager, emphasizes the importance of magazines in library e-services. “Digital magazines have accounted for almost half of all e-service usage. Therefore, they play a significant role in the E-Library as well. It is a pleasure to collaborate with a skilled partner for magazine content!”

ePress’s comprehensive service package for the E-Library project includes a user-friendly browsing interface, a smooth reading program, and diverse support services designed to match the E-Library’s visual identity and seamlessly integrate into the E-Library app.

The service package also features extensive reporting tools to support the E-Library’s development and improve the user experience in line with the project’s requirements.

The collaboration within the E-Library project solidifies ePress’s position as Finland’s leading platform for distributing digital content.

“We look forward to serving Finland’s library users more broadly and making our digital magazine selection accessible to everyone as part of this significant national project,” says Kimmo Laine.
